Commercial Cooling

Commercial Cooling Options

There are many types of cooling systems for commercial use. Keeping a cool business makes things very comfortable for you when you are in the heat of summer. There are many ways to keep cool, but nothing beats the air conditioner.

Air conditioners will cool your business but they use a lot of energy, and if you want an air conditioner system that is efficient and high-quality, you should look at ductless cooling systems.

You could go for the small window air conditioners, but these are not efficient and they can be a bit noisy. On the other end of the spectrum, you have the systems that go into the central ventilation ducts. If you don’t want either of these options, you can go for ductless cooling systems.

Ductless cooling systems, also known as split systems, operate with two halves of the equipment separated by a distance. One part of the system is the compressor and this sits outside the building. The other half is the ductless system, which is the indoor-air-handling unit. This unit is mounted on the wall and it is connected to the outside compressor via several pipes that are hidden from view.

One way to see the ductless cooling system is to see it like the radiators that provide heat in buildings, but instead provides cool air. The compressor can be located as much as 75 feet from the indoor component, without losing any power or efficiency. Since the compressor sits outside, the noise and vibration is never inside the business and the cooling action is delivered to any room, high up on the wall, for maximum benefit.

Usually, depending on the size of the business, the split systems will include three or more indoor air-handling units to deliver cooling throughout the business. One of the biggest benefits of this system is that you don’t need any ductwork to make the system work. As a result, it is very easy to install a business, with only a four-inch hole drilled through an exterior wall.

One of the biggest benefits of ductless cooling systems is that they are highly-efficient. Since the mini-split system can deliver its cooling air into independently-controlled rooms, increasing the energy efficiency of the entire system. Bedrooms can be kept cool at night, while living areas don’t get cool air, and vice versa during the day.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, a duct system loses 25 to 40 per cent of its heating and cooling energy through the ducts from the central system providing the air. This happens because there are leaks in the ducts. In addition, ducts that are warm must be cooled before you feel the impact of the cold air, which wastes more energy. Ducts also allow rodents and people, to get into your home. You don’t have to worry about that with ductless systems.

These systems tend to be a more expensive than other systems since they are relatively new, but the prices are quickly falling and you can offset the higher cost of installing the system, with the energy savings you will receive from the system.

Any project involving a commercial cooling system is a significant undertaking. You want experience with these types of projects and Climate Works has that experience with a track record proving that they can get the job done right!

In addition to differences in setting and scale that commercial HVAC projects have; there are local codes and guidelines that must be followed. We work regularly in the commercial sector and are intimately familiar with these codes, as well as following proper procedure.
