Ductless AC units can also be a good choice for room additions and small apartments, where extending or installing distribution duct work is not practical.
Similar to central air conditioning systems, ductless mini split air conditioners have two main components: an outdoor compressor/condenser, and an indoor air-handling unit. A conduit, which houses the power cable, refrigerant tubing, suction tubing, and a condensate drain, links the outdoor and indoor units.
There are several choices in the configuration of the indoor units, including ceiling mounts, or very small air handling units that can be ducted to other areas. Up to 4 individual indoor units can be installed with one outdoor unit.
